Tis the Season

The holidays are right around the corner and it’s easy to think about all the things that need to be completed before family and friends come into town. It’s not too late to achieve guest and entertaining ready spaces.
1.     Make a list of the areas where guests will gather and determine from there which rooms need to be addressed. Note the most obvious things in a space that can create a welcoming factor, such as fresh pillows or a cozy throw. Don’t overwhelm yourself with every detail that hasn’t been taken care of to this point. Remember that most guests won’t be focusing on the chip on the wall that you didn’t have time to patch or know about the new fabrics you wanted to change out on the windows.

2.    Be mindful of the time-frame. As mentioned above, be realistic of what can be accomplished in each space. Deciding to purchase a new sofa in time for holiday gatherings isn’t exactly ideal as that can take around 8 – 12 weeks to arrive. Hone in on the simple tasks that can be checked off in a day or weekend.
3.    Quick makeovers make a difference. Reusing the console table in the living space for extra serving can come in handy. Group together some accessories and artwork to complete the look. A fresh coat of paint in a small room can make a difference. Dressing up a bathroom and creating small detailed touches will help to make an impact.
The end of the year is always a busy season but prepping with a list beforehand and creating a plan of action will help to keep even the most flustered on track to obtain a holiday ready home!
